• Max distance is the community’s name for pushing a single flight as far as possible.
  • Three levers decide it: grip strength (how long you hold), gloves (what you can grab), and movement gear (how you set up).
  • The best public example is the 58K-view run embedded below.

Watch a real max-distance run

Community video by OTTER ON ROBLOX — note how the run is set up before the grab ever happens: positioning and timing decide as much as raw stats.

Why grip strength is the flight timer

In Catch a Plane!, your grip stat is effectively the clock on every flight. A weak grip ends the run early no matter how good your gear is; a trained grip keeps you attached through the long stretches where faster planes pull hardest.

The training route is covered in full in the grip strength guide. For max distance specifically, the rule is simple: the plane you cannot hold is the plane you cannot ride. Match your strength tier to the plane tier before attempting long flights.

Gloves and gear multiply the distance

Gloves set your ceiling

Heavier, faster planes need glove upgrades before they can be grabbed at all. The gloves guide explains the matching logic — an overpowered glove on weak strength still works, but the reverse never does.

Movement gear sets up the grab

Jetpacks, parachutes and gravity wings change your approach angle and hang time. See the gear guide for what each type does.

Practical run strategy

    • Warm up in an early world first — grip performs better after a few catches.
    • Pick your plane before it arrives; late decisions drop you.
    • Prefer the smooth, straight lanes for record attempts — event traffic is unpredictable.
    • After the Spooky Event update (October 24, 2026), re-check which lanes changed — see the updates page.

Distance records are personal bests, not a leaderboard mechanic — the game tracks your progression through trophies and worlds (see the trophies guide). Max distance is how the community measures mastery on top of that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an official max-distance leaderboard?

No verified leaderboard exists. Max distance is a community challenge — players film their longest flights and share them as videos. Progression in the game itself is measured through trophies and unlocked worlds.

Do jetpacks make flights longer?

Movement gear like jetpacks mainly changes how you set up a catch — approach angle and hang time. Flight length itself is governed by grip strength and the plane you manage to hold.

Which gloves are best for long flights?

The ones matched to the plane you are targeting. Heavier planes require stronger gloves before they can be grabbed at all — read the gloves guide for the matching rule.
